Example of wrong aspect ratio upload becomes huge hit.

An illustrative clip of how to deform a widescreen image by uploading it incorrectly has become a huge internet hit, garnering around 15 million views on YouTube. The clip underlines the fine tradition of deforming images filmed in one aspect ratio but presented in another. In this case, a clip filmed in 16:9 widescreen has been squashed to fill a 4:3 frame. "We just wanted to warn people that they were starting to lose touch with proper dimensions," said Susan Boyle, co-creator of the clip, "viewers are starting to get used to seeing people either squashed or stretched, when a little bit of knowledge could prevent such mistakes. We are glad that this clip has highlighted the issue."

This would have been correct.
